ICUMSA 1600–2000+ (Very Raw/Industrial Sugar)
ICUMSA 1600–2000+ sugar is a raw, dark brown cane sugar grade with a relatively high colour index (ICUMSA 1600-2000+ units), reflecting a large amount of residual molasses and natural impurities from the cane juice crystallization process. It represents one of the least refined commercial sugar grades in the ICUMSA classification and is typically used as a feedstock for further refinery processing or in industrial applications where high colour and impurities are acceptable.
Raw and Dark‐Coloured
The high ICUMSA value signifies a high level of molasses, colour, and natural impurities — a sign it is closer to raw cane sugar than refined product.
Industrial & Refining Feedstock
Commonly used as a feedstock for sugar refineries to produce refined sugar grades (e.g., ICUMSA 45).
Serves as a base ingredient in fermentation, ethanol production, animal feed supplements, and other industrial sweetening applications.
Not Typically Food-Grade
Due to its higher impurities and colour, this sugar is generally not used directly in finished food products in regions with strict food regulations — further processing is usually required first.
